A Local pub for everyone

The Ivy House (as you now see it) was founded in 2013 after residents and locals saved the building from impending demolition and redevelopment. But beer has been served on the site since 1865.

We are London’s first community-owned pub, the first pub in the UK to be listed as an Asset of Community Value, and the first building to be bought under the “community right to bid” provisions of the Localism Act.

We are a safe space for people of all ages, their children, and quite often, their pets.

  • We operate on Challenge 25 ( https://rasg.org.uk/about/). Please bring ID for entry on events night.

  • All children are welcome, but need to be off the premises by 8pm.

Under 18’s must always be supervised by an adult and aren’t allowed at the bar.

  • Dogs are most definitely welcome, but please keep them on a lead.

Recently we have had to adapt this policy to prevent dogs from being brought to busy gigs. We’ve found that man’s best friend gets a bit stressed out on occasion, so please bear this in mind.

    Contact staff for further details.

  • We operate an inclusive, safe space. We are committed to ensuring our pub is safe and fun, where everyone can have a good time, free from harassment. We have a zero-tolerance policy regarding transphobia, homophobia, misogyny, racism, or any other form of abuse towards our customers, staff or acts.

If you experience anything that makes you feel uncomfortable please tell our staff about it so we can intervene and support you.

We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone found in breach of this policy.

  • Access: there is one door at the front of the pub, with an additional fire escape through the side return which—unless it’s an emergency—is not open to the public. There is one step up through the main door, to access the pub. However, there is a ramp available which staff can assist in putting in place when required.

Toilet: we do not currently have an accessible toilet in our venue, though we are exploring ways to do this within the constraints of working with a listed building. However there are handrails support in two of our cubicles.

Parking: there is free parking available on the streets around Stuart Road. Please do not drink and drive.

Seating: if you require a seat for one of our gigs please get in touch.

Stage: our stage is 65cm high and only accessible via three steps. Please do not go on the stage unless your are performing here.

  • The Ivy House has a zero tolerance policy on drugs.

Smoking and vaping are only allowed in outside designated areas. Please be mindful of non-smokers/vapers in the gardens. If you are a smoker or a vaper, please be mindful of other customers, and be especially mindful if there are children present in our outside areas.

  • The outside front of the Ivy House is closed to the public from 10pm to help keep the noise down and show respect to our wonderful neighbours.
Our back garden remains open to smokers or to those who need some fresh air, but is limited to six at a time. No drinks are allowed outside after 10pm.
Please remember to be quiet as you leave. We’re pleased you’ve had a nice time, but we love it when our neighbours get a good night’s sleep.
